Hello.
I am Yusuke, a photographer from Kansai Musubu Photo, who does location photography in Kyoto ,0saka and Nara.
This time, I will write an article about "The best time to take photos during the autumn foliage season".
This article is recommended for customers who want to take autumn photos in the Kansai area, including Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara.
In Japan, the timing of the autumn leaves changing color varies depending on the region.
In Kyoto and Osaka, where we are doing our photo shoot, the leaves change color beautifully around November 23rd.
The timing of the autumn leaves changes depending on the weather each year.
Also, even in the same area, the best viewing times can differ by a few days.
In normal years, I think you'll be able to photo shoot with autumn leaves somewhere around November 23rd.
◻︎Kyoto autumn foliage spots
Higashiyama
This area is located east of Kyoto City.
There are many famous autumn foliage spots such as Nanzenji Temple and Eikando Temple.
Photographers are not allowed to take photos at some religious facilities such as shrines and temples.
At our shop, we can take photos at beautiful locations such as Shirakawain.
Arashiyama is famous for its bamboo forests, but it also has many famous spots for viewing autumn leaves.
As this is a popular tourist area, tourists may appear in the photos.
Also, the roads to Arashiyama get very congested during the autumn foliage season.
I recommend heading to Arashiyama by train.
Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is dedicated to the god of learning.
There is a maple garden within the shrine grounds.
The leaves change color a few days later than at Higashiyama.
There is a forest within the grounds of Shimogamo Shrine.
The leaves change color the latest in Kyoto city.
The best time to see them is around mid-December.

Uji City
This town can be reached by JR line from Kyoto Station.
Uji is famous for matcha, but it also has lots of nature and is recommended for photographing autumn leaves.
It is less crowded than Kyoto city, so it is recommended for customers who want to take their time taking photos.
A recommended place is Mimurotoji Temple.
Koshoji Temple also has beautiful maples planted along the approach to the temple.
◻︎Osaka autumn foliage spots
Osaka Castle Park
There is a maple tree garden within Osaka Castle Park.
You cannot take photos together with the castle.
However, you can take photos there without it getting crowded.

There is a lot of nature around Minoo Falls.
It's a popular tourist spot, but it's a great place to go if you want to take photos with autumn leaves by the water.
Shitennoji Temple
Shitennoji Temple is a recommended place in Osaka city.
There is a Japanese garden within Shitennoji Temple, and maples are planted there.
It also has a pond and is easily accessible, so it is recommended.
Please note that the Japanese garden is often closed.
◻︎Nara autumn foliage spots
Nara Park
Nara Park is home to a variety of trees that change color in autumn.
From early November, you can take photos that capture an autumnal atmosphere.
Yoshikien
Yoshikien is a Japanese garden located in the center of Nara city.
It features buildings with typical Japanese thatched roofs.
There are many maple trees planted around it, which is a great place for taking photos.
